Forrest Mars invents the M & M
One of the largest chocolate maker in the world. The M & M is their claim to fame. Fabled to be invented by Forrest Mars during the Civil War. According to legend, Mr. Mars saw the Mexican Soldiers consuming chocolate that was covered by some type of hardened surgar shell to prevent the chocolate from melting in the hot sun of Mexico. The idea was then brought back to the United States where it was refined into the prouct we all know and love today.
