Our
Family to yours
FireLilly
Gourmet Chocolates is a family owned boutique in Toledo,
Ohio that concentrates on doing one product
and one product right. Each one of our Truffle Cones is
hand crafted with highest
quality ingredients that
look, smell and taste delicious. You can find chocolate
anywhere, but you’ll
only find Truffle Cones at FireLilly Chocolates. Truffle
Cones - a unique blend of chocolate and crunch.
Why?
Quite simply we wanted to do something
different and delicious. Something to make you stop in
your tracks, something that your palette would remember for
years
to come, a timeless confectionary creation.
We’ve combined the world’s
finest chocolates from the most exotic locations with the
delicate taste and crunch of a mini-waffle cone. The same
kind you
used to eat as a kid. The two form an epicurean partnership
that
leaves your taste buds pleading for more. Smooth truffle
filling satiates your sense of taste and the crunch, ohhhh
the crunch, do we have to say more?
Where
did the idea come from?
We get asked that a lot so we had to do some
reflecting. I guess it all started as a child. My mother -
born, bred, and raised in Germany used to pile Nutella on
everything. For breakfast she would slather a piece of toast
and that was how we got a jump start on the day. That
taste for
chocolate never fell by
the roadside. The Truffle cone was a natural extension from
my upbringing. We just took it a step further.
The
Picasso Story
You
hear dream come true stories everyday but this one
happened to us. I grew up in a family
that was
centered around the arts. My father was a Latin American
art broker and would travel back and forth between
North and South America. Many years after I flew
the coupe this association with art poked its head
back into my own family's life.
I received a call from a friend who
wondered if we knew anyone that could move a master works
painting. He was kind
of vague and for good reason. Let me insert here that in
my later life, I have never sold, produced, collected or
surrounded
myself with art since I was a child. I told my buddy
about my father's intermingling in the art community and
decided to give pop a call. "Dad I've got someone who
wants to move a Master Works painting". His reply "One
out of every million deals like these ever pans out so don't
get too excited".
I didn't.
Come to find out that my buddy knew
a guy, who knew a guy, who knew a guy, who's cousin had an
original Picasso they just had to sell. I called dad back
up and although he'd been out of the business for many years
threw me a long shot phone number. Did it pan out? It sure
did!! After contacting an art dealer in California we found
a buyer.
Let me repeat... this was such a
long shot that we probably had better chance of finding a
winning lottery ticket laying on the sidewalk. My family
lives an honest and frugal life and would never have had
the means to make FireLilly Chocolates become a reality.
The residuals that came from the sale of this painting catapulted
us into
a dream come true. One day we are going to dedicate a signature
line of chocolates to the artist that made our life what
it is today.
